The purpose of this research is to determine the role venture philanthropy can play in achieving systemic change in pressing social issues. It has been sponsored by the Coller Institute of Private Equity at London Business School, with cooperation from Impetus Trust, New Profit Inc., One Foundation and Social Ventures Australia (SVA).

The objective of this paper is to provide a practical guide for individuals and firms in the private equity industry to get involved in venture philanthropy. It is also a useful resource for venture philanthropy professionals and organisations seeking partners in the private equity industry.
Through examining case studies of private equity firms from several European countries, the publication explores three possible models of venture philanthropy engagement and provides examples of best practice.
