Working Chance is a distinctive, non-profit recruitment consultancy that helps women ex-offenders make a successful transition from jail to jobs. It supports their clients every step of the way to ensure that they get offered and then stay in employment, thereby enabling women to progress out of the cycle of reoffending.

Impetus has invested in Working Chance as part of the Impetus for Reducing Reoffending Initiative.
Background to the investment:
Impetus is investing in Working Chance for 12 - 18 months with a view to making a longer-term investment at the end of the planning process.
The initial Impetus investment will focus on reviewing and strengthening Working Chance's delivery model, producing a three-year business plan and exploring new long-term fundraising opportunities.
Focus of Impetus expertise 2011/12:
- Strategic and operational input and advice
- Review and develop performance monitoring and evaluation toolkit
- Legal review and updating of their Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association, with the support of SJ Berwin
- Facilitate recruitment of new trustees, with support from Egon Zehnder
- Financial due diligence and support on developing the financial reporting from PricewaterhouseCoopers
- Review of organisational structure and support on a new senior role appointment.
Key achievements 2011/12:
- Development of additional capacity in operations and recruitment teams to optimise growth opportunities
- Selected as a chosen charity by Lord Mayor of London from October 2013
- Maintained a 0% reoffending rate amongst clients placed in work
- Placed first candidate in a £30,000-plus role
- Placed 27 candidates with Pret a Manger
- 65% increase in the number of paid placements in the past year.
