Our venture philanthropy model leads to the Impetus "turbo-charging" effect, multiplying the social impact of our charities and social enterprises many-fold in just four-to-six years. Organisations supported by Impetus are helping over 300,000 more people a year, and the number is still rising.
While we are, of course, proud of the increased impact our charities have, we would never claim to take all the credit. Staff members at every level, at every charity and social enterprise, are working extra-hard each day to achieve these results and help many more people. Impetus is proud of its contribution, which, when paired with the dedication and ambition of these organisations, leads to such tremendous results.

A recent independent evaluation by Bain & Company, a leading management consultancy firm, reported that 94% of Impetus portfolio charity respondents said that they could not have achieved the same degree of change without Impetus.
In addition, we multiply the impact of each pound donated to us with our use of partnership investment, volunteer expertise and additional funds raised. For every £1 of strategic funding we give to a portfolio charity or social enterprise, we generate at least double this in value for the investee organisation.
Each year we produce an Annual Impact Report, which highlights the achievements of our charities. Read the 2010/11 Impact Report below.
Portfolio charities' income growth pre and post Impetus investment
We help accelerate the income growth of the organisations we invest in. This, in turn, enables Impetus-backed charities and social enterprises to significantly increase their social impact. The table below compares the average rate of growth of some of the charities that have "exited" our portfolio, before and after Impetus invested in them.
| Past Investment | Compound annual growth rate pre-Impetus investment | Compound annual growth rate post-Impetus investment |
| Speaking Up | 32% | 40% |
| St Giles Trust | 14% | 25% |
| Leap Confronting Conflict | 14% | 30% |
