Harbi Jama

Harbi Jama joined Impetus as Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships in September 2025.   

With a strong background in philanthropy, partnerships and place-based giving, Harbi has worked in the charity sector with organisations including Refugee Action and the London Community Foundation. He has extensive experience leading on areas such as corporate partnerships, income development and strategic planning, statutory funding, communications and building relationships with major corporations and foundations including Adobe Foundation, Airbnb.org, JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank and The Standard. 

Harbi is passionate about organisational growth, empowering donors, and supporting the teams he leads. A firm advocate for creating better opportunities for people, he is driven by a belief in the positive impact every organisation can make. 

I believe every company can do good. And that’s what really motivates me.

Growing up in London as a young refugee, Harbi has lived experience of the challenges – from educational insecurity to broader socio-economic barriers – affecting many of the young people who Impetus supports. 

Harbi holds a post graduate degree in Conflict, Governance and International Development and has worked in a variety of countries in East Africa. He has also served as a trustee on two boards and is a certified life coach.
