AllChild (formerly West London Zone)

AllChild and Impetus

AllChild joined the Impetus portfolio in 2018. During our seven-year partnership, AllChild have achieved strong growth, expanding from a pilot Impact Programme reaching 100 young people in West London to supporting almost 2,000 young people across the UK annually. Their income has grown from £1.2m to £7.6m and they have built and proven a unique impact model providing holistic support to improve young people’s social, emotional and academic outcomes.

In 2024, AllChild began to translate its work outside of London, launching new programmes in Leigh and Atherton in Wigan – extending their proven model to support even more young people and their families.

In July 2025, AllChild hosted the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rt Hon Rachel Reeves and the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Rt Hon Lisa Nandy at their partner school, Westleigh Methodist Primary School, in Leigh (Wigan Council). This coincided with the Chancellor’s announcement of the launch of the Better Futures Fund, a new £500m outcomes fund aimed at supporting children and families through earlier action. We are confident AllChild is especially well placed to benefit from this Fund.

Our work together in numbers

Since 2018, Impetus has provided AllChild with a total of £1.2m in direct grants, £1m in co-investment funding, and £0.6m in pro bono support.

Through the expertise of our dedicated Investment team, we have also supported AllChild with leadership development, strategic planning, growth and implementation of their impact-led programmes, sustainability planning and Board development.

Louisa Mitchell, AllChild
The Impetus partnership has been very powerful for AllChild. It started soon after our pilot project and the Impetus team worked tirelessly with us to clarify our mission and refine our Impact Programmes so that we could stay true to our vision that every child and young person can flourish in their school and community with the right support, in the right way, at the right time.

We have ambitious plans to deepen our impact and expand our reach over the next five years, sharing our learning and insight as a national blueprint for a new way of investing in children’s futures in our communities. We are proud and hugely grateful to be graduating from the Impetus portfolio alongside other committed causes creating lasting change for children and young people.

Louisa Mitchell, CEO, AllChild
Over the past seven years, we have seen AllChild grow from delivering a pilot to 100 young people in three schools in West London, to now supporting more than 1,700 young people across the UK, translating their proven model to other regions.

AllChild’s success is a brilliant story of working in deep partnership with schools, councils and communities, and delivering what it takes to transform the lives of the children and young people. It is also story of exceptional leadership from AllChild’s CEO, Louisa Mitchell. We are proud of the part Impetus has played in helping shape AllChild’s programme and organisation.

Luke's story

Luke's story
Luke and Ladi, son (middle) and mother (right), supported by AllChild

Three years ago, Luke Chapman (pictured above) was a different person. He lacked the confidence to meet people’s eyes, mumbled his name and struggled to express himself. His mum, Ladi Muhammad Chapman, remembers those days vividly.

But after taking part in AllChild’s Impact Programme - a carefully curated and sequenced individual plan of support and activities, guided by their Link Workers - Luke now feels safe, supported and connected. He’s built lasting relationships with his Link Worker and become more confident in himself, with his potential recognised by those around him.

AllChild’s support extends beyond the young people themselves to providing a safety net for their parents and families, connecting them to support and opportunities in their school and community at the right time. Ladi said:

AllChild didn’t just change Luke’s life. It transformed mine.

Through AllChild’s work, many young people like Luke are able to engage with the right support, at the right time and in the right way, to thrive - both in school and in life.

Educational attainment

Only 43% of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds pass English and maths GCSEs, compared to 73% of their better off peers. This attainment gap is one of the most persistent challenges facing the English education sector, and it’s only grown since the pandemic. But we believe that with the right support, all young people can succeed.
