Today, Lisa Harker joins the Impetus Board of Trustees. As Director of Nuffield Family Justice Observatory since 2019, Lisa has extensive experience in research, policy, journalism, campaigning and service delivery.

Lisa has seen first-hand the challenges young people face as they take their first steps into the labour market and is passionate about tackling these issues.

As a trustee, Lisa will provide crucial guidance for furthering Impetus’ work: transforming the lives of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds by investing in the best education and employment non-profit organisations, and influencing policy to deliver long-term, systemic change.

Lisa has been in previous roles at the NSPCC and Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), and has held various advisory roles within government. She will bring expertise ensuring that decision-making about children in the family justice system is data and research informed.

On joining Impetus as our new trustee, Lisa said:

Impetus has an impressive track record of finding, funding and building organisations which transform young people’s lives. It is making a difference in communities and shaping national policy. With too many young people being left behind in education and employment, Impetus’ work is inspiring. It is helping to show what the future could look like.
