We're delighted to announce the appointment of two new trustees to Our Board:

Andy Thoms, Head of Broadcast, Sports and Entertainment, EMEA Partnerships, Google

Andy has more than 15 years’ experience in tech, media and finance, holding various leadership positions at Google and PWC across Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacfic. He is currently Head of Broadcast, Sports & Entertainment Partnerships at Google EMEA, where he manages the commercial relationships with the region's largest broadcasters and sporting bodies and guides the company's engagement strategy in these industries.

Andy is actively involved in the ‘Inspire the Future’ program, providing lectures and mentoring sessions to pupils aged 14-18 in schools in and around London to offer guidance on further education and careers. Andy has also recently joined the board of trustees of the Open Door Charity who provide emergency support, shelter and counselling for the homeless in the St Albans area.

Sat Singh, Founder and CEO, Renaissance Foundation

Sat was one of the first round of graduates from the Impetus Leadership Academy and is the Founder and CEO of the Renaissance Foundation. The Foundation focuses on two hard to reach groups: youth carers and young patients suffering from lifelong/life limiting illnesses and inspires them to reach their unique potential.

Sat also sits on the Historic England Foundation as a trustee, helping them to address inclusion challenges in the heritage sector & helping them to diversify access for young people in their workforce. Outside of work Sat is a passionate Arsenal Fan.

I am proud and excited to welcome Sat and Andy to our Board. As CEO of the Renaissance Foundation, Sat brings us direct experience of working with the young people that Impetus exists to serve. Andy joins us with a solid grounding in the tech and media industry, coupled with a passion for mentoring young people. Together they bring the wealth of skills, experience, and insights that we need to help us deliver our mission to improve the lives of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds by helping them to succeed in education, work and life.

Hanneke Smits, Chair of the Impetus Board

Impetus is an incredible organisation with a truly unique model that identifies charities with high potential to disproportionately reduce youth inequality and accelerate their progress at scale. Impetus’ mission to ensure every young person succeeds is today more pertinent than ever, and I’m honoured to be joining their board to contribute towards achieving this.

Andy Thoms, Head of Broadcast, Sports and Entertainment, EMEA Partnerships, Google

During my time on the Impetus Leadership Academy, I was able to experience Impetus’ work first hand, and the programme had a transformational impact on my leadership journey. I share the passion of the dedicated Impetus team to make changes to improve the youth sector and create transformational opportunities for young people in the UK.
