Impetus has appointed Gabriele Cipparrone, Sumit Dheir and Tristram Leach as new trustees, strengthening the charity’s leadership as it continues its work to improve educational and employment outcomes for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

They bring their experience in the PE industry to a diverse Impetus Board made up of volunteers from business, the third sector, government and academia.

Gabriele Cipparrone is a Partner in the Tech team at Apax, where he has worked since 2003. He also serves as CEO of the Apax Foundation and is a trustee of Street Child.

Gabriele replaces Arnaud Bosquet, who will be stepping down from the Board at the end of 2026 after 4 years. Gabriele said:

“Impetus brings the same discipline and long-term commitment that we value in private equity to the challenge of social mobility, and the results speak for themselves. I am proud to support this work as a trustee.”

Sumit replaces Filippo Cardini, who is stepping down from the Board after 6 years. Commenting on his appointment, Sumit said:

“Impetus represents a practical, evidence-led way to significantly improve educational outcomes, support high-impact charities and positively affect so many lives. I am proud to be associated with an organisation with such a clear focus on opportunity, ambition and impact.”

Tristram Leach is Head of Investments, Europe at Apollo Global Management. Before joining Apollo in 2015, he was a Partner at Cheyne Capital Management.

On joining Impetus as a new trustee, Tristram said:

“With the right intervention these young people’s lives can be transformed and Impetus addresses these challenges with a focus on measuring true impact rather than merely good intent. It marries ‘what works’ with ‘what matters’.”

Impetus CEO, Susannah Hardyman MBE said:

“We are delighted to welcome Sumit, Tristram and Gabriele to the Impetus Board of Trustees. Each brings outstanding experience from across the private equity and investment sectors, alongside a clear commitment to improving outcomes for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Their insight, leadership and shared ambition for social mobility will be invaluable as we continue to grow our impact and support more young people to succeed in school, work and life.”
